Georgia Length Limits (Bass)

 Here you will find a listing of places to fish in Georgia that's open to the public.

Public Fishing Areas are open year round, seven days a week from sunrise to sunset. Unless a pond or lake has been posted as having a different length limit or daily limit the following apply:
Length Limit for Largemouth bass: 14 inches minimum.
 
Anglers 16 years of age or older must possess a valid Wildlife Management Area (WMA) license and a current fishing license to fish, except a WMA is not required to fish at Rocky Mtn Recreation and PFA.
 
If you have a Sportsman's license, One Day fishing license, Senior Lifetime license or Honorary license, you are not required to have a WMA license to fish.

Bream or sunfish (of any one or combination).............15
Channel catfish.......................5
 
Grass carp must be released immediately
 
 
Public Fishing Areas
Big Lazer Creek

Fish Species: Largemouth bass, Bluegill, Redear, Ch catfish, Crappie.
Water: 195 acre lake
Facilities: concrete two lane boatramp, fishing pier, restrooms, picnic tables, prim. camping, some facilities accessible to persons w/disabilities.
Directions from Talbotton: East on US Hwy 80 for 4 miles, left on Po Biddy Rd for 6.4 miles, left on Bunkham Rd, left into area.
 
Charlie Elliott Wildlife Center/Marben PFA
(Jasper & Newton Cnty's 770 784 3059)
Fish Species: Largemouth bass, Bluegill, Redear, Crappie, Ch catfish.
Water: 22 ponds totalling 295 acres. Ponds range in size from 1 to 95 acres.
Facilities: Kids only ponds, concrete boat ramps (6 lakes), boat docks, restrooms, fishing piers, picnic areas, prim. camping, some fishing areas accessible to persons w/disabilities.
Note: Sign in at information board and check for lakes that are open for fishing when you visit.
Directions from Mansfield: South on Ga Hwy 11 for 2.7 miles, left on Marben Farms Rd (Co Rd 229), follow signs.
 
Dodge County

Fish Species: Largemouth bass, Bluegill, Redear, Ch catfish.
Water: 104 acres
Facilities: concrete boatramps, fishing pier, restrooms, picnic tables, nature trail, some facilities accessible to persons w/disabilities.
Directions from Eastman: South on US Hwy 23/341 for 3 miles, left on cnty rd 49 for .6 miles to lake.
 
Evans County

Fish Species: Largemouth bass, Bluegill, Redear, Ch catfish, Crappie, Brown Bullhead.
Water: three ponds encompassing 122 acres (8, 30, 84 acres).
Facilities: concrete boatramps, fishing piers, restrooms, picnic tables, prim. camping, some facilities accessible to persons w/disabilities.
Directions from Claxton: East on US Hwy 280 for 8.5 miles, right on Old Reidsville-Savannah rd for 1 mile, left on Old Sunbury rd (dirt), PFA .3 miles on right marked by wildlife resources sign.
 
McDuffie (McDuffie County)

Fish Species: Largemouth bass, Bluegill, Redear, Ch catfish.
Water: 12 ponds varying in size from 1 to 30 acres.
Facilities: concrete boatramps, restrooms, picnic tables, tent and RV camping in designated areas (fee is $10 per site per night)
Directions from Thomson: South on Hwy 17 to US Hwy 278, left (east) for 5.6 miles, right on Ellington Airline Rd for 2.8 miles, right on Fish Hatchery Rd for .8 miles.
 
Paradise (Berrien County)

Fish Species:Largemouth bass, Bluegill, Redear, Ch Catfish, Crappie and Brown Bullhead.
Water: 68 lakes encompassing 525 acres of water.
Facilities: Restrooms, picnic area, concrete boatramps, prim. camping, fishing pier, boat dock, some facilities accessible to persons w/disabilities.
Directions from Tifton: East on US Hwy 82 for 8 miles to Brookfield-Nashville Rd near Brookfield, follow signs from Hwy 82 to area.
 
Rocky Mtn Recreation and PFA

Fish Species: Largemouth bass, Bluegill, Redear, Ch catfish, Black Crappie, Hybrid white-striped bass.
Water: two lakes (202 & 357 acres).
Facilities: concrete boatramps, fishing jetties, restrooms, picnic shelters, scenic overlooks, hiking trails, tent and RV camping (seasonal), grp prim. camping (res. only),
some facilities accessible to persons w/disabilities
Fee: Daily or annual Rocky Mtn PFA parking permit required (one per vehicle). WMA stamp not required.
Restrictions: It is illegal to possess alcoholic beverages. No one may rappel, rock climb or hang glide.
Directions from Rome: North on US Hwy 27 for 10.4 miles, left on Sike Story Rd .4 miles, left on Big Texas Valley Rd 5.4 miles to entrance.
 
Treutlen County

Fish Species: Largemouth bass, Bluegill, Redear, Warmouth, Flier, Brown Bullhead, Crappie
Water: 189 acre lake
Facilities: concrete boatramp
Directions from Soperton: North on Co. Rd 166 for 4.5 miles, at wildlife resources sign right onto dirtroad. 
 
This list is not complete. There are numerous fishing areas open to the public. I  will continue to add areas as I  find them.  This list  will  not include major impoundments (Lanier, West Point, Seminole etc).
